Parent Assistance

Parents are an integral part of Little Athletics, without your volunteering we cannot run effectively. We have all experienced being new at Little Athletics and understand it can be a bit daunting. Please be assured that you do not require experience in athletics to help out. 

This season we require each family to help out at least 6 times during the season (6 duties). These duties can either be age group leaders which are fixed for the entire season or weekly duties as listed below. 

Weekly duties: 

  • Starter’s Marshall – Assemble athletes at start line for each track event 
  • Finish Line Marshall – Barcode scanning and helping with time recording  
  • Canteen – Serve food & refreshments in the Club Canteen. 
  • B.B.Q. – Assist with cooking of BBQ. 
  • First Aid - Assist with any injuries (must be level 2 first aid) 
  • Data Entry – Assist with uploading results to the ResultsHQ website. 
  • Set Up – Assist with the setup of the track  (7.00am start) 
  • Pavilion Helper – Helping sell uniforms, registering trialists and responding to queries from new parents.  
  • Computer Operators – Record times and manage computer software
  • Race Starters –Race starters will need to complete a starters course   

Duty Sign Up 
The weekly email with the program details will contain a link for you to sign up to duties each week. First in best dressed. Please aim to do at least two duties before Christmas and help out with your children’s age group a few times.  

Age group leaders:

We require 2 Age Group Leaders per age group (you can work together or alternate) to oversee the age group. These are appointed at the start of the season and fixed roles for the entire season.  

Age group helpers: 

Duties included in the 6 required is, helping in the age groups of their children. Getting involved in little athletics is a great way to watch your child perform up close, learn the rules of little athletics and create life-long friendships with other families.  

Each family must complete at least 6 duties for the season with at least 2 duties prior to the Christmas break. To enter into Berwick championship day, you must have completed 6 duties. All parents must have completed 6 duties for their child/ren to participate in championship day and receive any awards/trophies at presentation night.
